Fall Renewal/Confirmation Notices
Summer is officially over, which means it's time for Fall Renewal and Confirmation Notices. If you have not renewed your CFS products for 2019, you may have already received a Fall Renewal Notice; if you have renewed, you will soon receive a Confirmation Notice listing CFS products you have previously ordered this year. (Note: Beginning this year, some customers will receive a postcard in place of the customary mailing. See Sales Tax and Renewal Notice Changes, below.)

If you haven't renewed, please consider the following benefits of renewing now:

  • Avoid the stress of having to place your order when your office and ours are at their busiest.
  • Resolve potential software or hardware problems before tax season begins by installing and testing your software early.

Plus, if you renew by October 31st, you will receive:

  • 10% off the first-time purchase of additional CFS software or network upgrades, and
  • 10% off forms, envelopes, and tax supplies.

Sales Tax and Renewal Notice Changes
Until this year, businesses have only been required to collect sales tax in states where they maintained a physical presence, or nexus. For us, that meant we collected sales tax, when applicable, on sales to customers in California, where our offices are located, and on seminar sales in other states. This year, in South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc., the Supreme Court determined that states have the right to collect sales tax based on the amount of business a company does in the state, regardless of whether or not the company has a physical presence there. Many states have already passed "economic nexus" sales tax laws, and next month we will begin collecting sales tax, when applicable, on sales in states where we will have nexus under such laws.

Renewal PostcardDifferences in various state sales tax rules make it difficult for us to fit all of the variations on a single, uniform paper notice. Starting this fall, in lieu of a full renewal package, some customers will simply receive a postcard directing them to renew on our website, which can more easily provide a customized experience for their respective states. Starting this fall, Confirmation Notices will also be sent in postcard format.

The easiest way to renew your CFS products is at our secure webstore, where your renewal discounts are automatically applied, and sales tax and shipping, when applicable, are calculated for you. Log in to your MyCFS account and go to your renewal notice. In the left column, check the box for each product you wish to renew, then click the Add checked items to cart button. You will be taken to your Shopping Cart, where you will have an opportunity to make changes to your order. Once you have determined that the items and quantities are correct, click Continue to Checkout to proceed through pages that allow you to choose Shipping Options, confirm Shipping Address, enter Payment information, and receive Confirmation of your order.

Please Inspect Your Order
Forms LabelWhen you receive an order of tax forms or supplies from us, please make sure that you inspect it immediately. Verify that we sent the correct items, and that there is nothing you forgot to order. Keep in mind that items may be damaged in transit.

Damages or discrepancies must be reported within 14 days of receiving your order. Our supplies return policy covers you for 30 days, but tax forms cannot be returned for refund after December 15th. Refunds do not include shipping charges.

W2/1099 Has Been Released
W2/1099W2/1099 has been released and is available for download. CDs have been shipped by first class mail to customers who paid for the CD shipping option when they ordered W2/1099.

If you have previously installed another 2018 Payroll System program (941/940, LivePayroll, or Corrector), you don't need to install W2/1099. Just be sure you have installed the latest Payroll System update and are using the correct license code. If you purchased W2/1099 after you purchased other CFS programs, the license code you received when you purchased those other programs will not work for W2/1099. You must use the new license code you received when you purchased W2/1099. To update your license code, select "Firm Information..." from the File menu and enter your new license code in the License Code field. If you have a MyCFS account, you can easily look up your license code online.
