Form 940 is released
The much-anticipated 940 update to Payroll System 2006 (v6.355) was posted on our website on December 21st. The update may be downloaded in one of three ways:

Option 1: Automatically update from within the program

Option 2: Manually download update from our website
To manually download the update from our website, click here. Read the instructions carefully (you may wish to print this page), then click on the "Download Now" button to save the file to your computer's hard drive, noting its location. (NOTE: DO NOT DOWNLOAD UPDATE FILE TO THE PROGRAM FOLDER!) Once the file has finished downloading, run it to install the update. (NOTE: MAKE SURE PROGRAM IS NOT RUNNING BEFORE INSTALLING THE UPDATE!)

Option 3: UPDATE AUTOMATICALLY ON STARTUP (NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A PERMANENT, HIGH-SPEED INTERNET CONNECTION, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THIS OPTION!)
If you have a permanent, high-speed Internet connection--such as DSL, ISDN or cable--most CFS programs can be configured to check automatically for updates upon startup.

To activate this option, click on the "Check for web updates when program starts" box on the Configuration menu. The next time you run the program, it will check the web for a new update and, if one is available, download it automatically.

Form 940-EZ is obsolete
Form 940-EZ for 2006 has been discontinued. All employers will file Form 940 for 2006. The newly designed Form 940 is scannable, and includes worksheets for Part 3. If a payer was eligible to file Form 940-EZ in the past, then they would not use Part 3 of the new form. Help for Part 3 has been added for clarification.

Important update posted for W2/1099
Even if you have no use for the 940 form, please download the update mentioned above. This mandatory update includes important changes to the W2/1099 program.

2006 e-file/MagMedia add-on is released
Now you can paperlessly file your W2/1099 returns with e-file/MagMedia. This add-on to the W2/1099 program was released on December 21st. If you've already purchased it, you can download it by following the instructions listed above.

We have also posted SSA's Accuwage software, required by e-file/MagMedia users to test data files before submission to the Social Security Administration. E-file/MagMedia users must download the Accuwage software separately from the update, here.

The instructional videos are short and demonstrate how to perform specific tasks. Use the VCR controls at the top center of the screen to control playback. Check our website often as new videos are added in the future.
